All The Way Home Film
DVDs available for purchase! Contact us....

We have DVDs available for purchase. We are currently self-distributing, so all you need to do is contact us and mail a check to receive your DVD.

Simply contact us at 101films@gmail.com with your mailing address and we’ll mail you a copy of the film once we’ve received a check from you.

You can also send your order to us via mail, by sending a check to P.O Box 2093, Berkeley CA 94702. Make the check out to Charlotte Buchen and make sure you include your mailing address so we can send you the film!

How much does it cost? Well, that depends – we have two different prices. Here is why:

We financed this film ourselves, and so despite some much-appreciated assistance from the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, the Knight Foundation, and Margaret and Will Hearst, we’re still in debt.

We can sell individual copies of the film for your personal use for $25. We hope individuals find this to be an accessible and reasonable price. If you mail us a S.A.S.E ( sel-addressed, stamped envelope) for the DVD, then the cost is even less; $20!

However, if you’re affiliated with an institution such as a VA hospital, Vet Center, university or other institution, we would very much appreciate it if you can buy the film through your institution for $200.

That way, more people can see and benefit from it since it will be part of a lending library or be used for group screenings.

Here are some testimonials about the film’s usefulness in a therapeutic setting:

“Re-adjusting to life after combat is difficult no matter what the circumstance. This excellent documentary captures many of the challenges that Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families must face.” ~ Keith Armstrong, LCSW Co-Author, Courage After Fire: Coping Strategies for Troops Returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and their Families.

“I have personally found “All the Way Home” to be a compassionate and informative look at the experiences returning veterans face after combat. “All the Way Home” can be an important teaching tool to help therapists understand the needs and struggles of veterans.”
~John R. McQuaid, Ph.D.
Clinical Psychologist

“This film is very well done – authentic, educational and also captivating. It would be very helpful viewing for vets, their families and the caregivers that provide health and counseling services to the military.”
~Marijo Tamburrino, M.D.
Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry, University of Toledo
Co-PI with Joseph Calabrese, M.D., on the project, “ Combat Mental Health Initiative.”

ISTSS Conference

We recently were in Chicago for the conference of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, or ISTSS http://www.istss.org/. We attended the conference a few years ago in LA as part of our research for the film, so it was a great honor to return to present our film.

We could not have been more moved and inspired by the response to the film. Thank you to all of you who came and shared your comments and reactions with us!

The best response by far was from a Vietnam vet who currently works with veterans himself who overcame his emotions to come to the microphone and share his response – one of overwhelming connection to Steve, the Vietnam veteran in the film. He said he’d use the film with his group, and bought a copy of the DVD, refusing our offer of a free copy.

We sold out of the DVDs we brought. The DVD sales were wonderful too, knowing that the ISTSS therapists were bringing back copies to share in their communities. It is also a huge help for us to recoup some of the costs of film & DVD production.

If you’d like a copy, please email us at 101films@gmail.com for info. The DVD is $20 for individual use, $200-$250 for institutional use.

We’d also love to hear your comments and feedback!

Thank you again to ISTSS for the wonderful opportunity to screen our film amidst a community of healers.

Festival Recap

Festival Recap

Mill Valley was a low-key festival peppered with some wonderful films. We met some great people and attended both of our screenings. It was most heart-warming that some people stayed till the very end to ask questions.

There was another short about coming home from Iraq with wounds, but in this case a physical wound. It was called “Left in Baghdad”. Look for it at a festival near you – it was a great film.

We’ll post our next screenings as soon as we know the details…
